Swiss Contact partners with MRTI to provide the Vocational Skills Development Program.
(VSDP) is a hospitality skills-training program designed to give disadvantaged youth the opportunity for demand-driven employment or self-employment and better income. We have 240 Learners enrolled in the course and are having a great time with this program!
These are the interlinked components of the project:
- The Hospitality Training (HT Component) facilitates the increase of skilled men and women in the hospitality industry. The HT Component’s target is to train 5,000 persons with a disadvantaged background in selected hospitality occupations in cooperation with hotels in Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay and Bagan.
- “Cascading system of Training of Trainers (ToT)” courses as well as activities that focus on assuring the financial self-sustainability of skills development in the Myanmar hospitality industry.
- Dual Apprenticeship: strengths and intensifies the involvement of the private sector, the component will pilot innovative ways of delivering skills training in close collaboration with the private sector.
- Policy and Stakeholder Engagement: strengthens collaboration between different stakeholders engaged in skills development and labor market support. The work that focuses on engaging stakeholders at a national level will also focus on sharing key VSDP experiences and strengthening skills testing and certification.
We are thankful to Swiss Contact, and the MRTI training team, for promoting up-and-coming leaders in Myanmar’s hospitality industry!
