Than Hlaing Oo (Gabriel) is passionate about sustainable development and humanitarian assistance, strategic planning and managing organizations for conflict transformation and non-violent communication. He is a goal-driven organizational leader who manages by setting good examples and motivating colleagues with understanding and empathy.
Than Hlaing Oo has over 15 years work experience as a development management professional in the NGO sector. His skills include; organizational leadership & management, strategic planning & policy development, donor relations, training in child psychology and counselling, grants for CSOs, financial management and report writing, communications, advocacy, lobbying, event planning, media relations, transition planning, staff coaching and training.
Before coming to MRTI he has worked for World Vision, UCANews, National Catholic Family Commission, Thidar Foundation, Karuna Myanmar Social Services, Paung Ku and MCRB and has a Masters Degree in Development Management from Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany.
Recently he worked on the report for Tourism Sector Wide Impact Assessment (SWIA) focusing on hotel zones development projects in Tada U, Inn Lay Lake and Chaung Thar and qualitative research for his thesis “Adoption of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices in the tourism sector of developing countries: A comparative study of foreign-owned and local-owned hotels and tour operators in Myanmar”.
